Bottled water is an explosive cocktail (TO VIMA)
Bottled water is dangerous according to new research. Over the last eight years, one in ten samples have contained a plethora of dangerous pathogens.
Dangerous bottled water contains coliforms, pseudomonads and enterococci.
Dangerous pathogenic microorganisms have been detected by Greek scientists in domestic bottled water, which were put under the microscope after eight years of research. Coliform bacteria, pseudomonads and other microbes "enrich" in many cases the water we consume. This is an explosive cocktail that can cause infections in people with weakened immune systems. According to a new, unpublished, large-scale study by experts from the Universities of Patras and Thrace presented today by To Vima, 13.95% of the samples of bottled mineral water tested between 1995 and 2003 did not meet the requirements of Greek legislation.
According to the researchers, the main "culprits" for the microbiological contamination of bottled water are the bottling equipment and especially the storage temperature of the bottled water.
